A lot has been happening in the world. Some of which make us feel unsafe as young women and men navigating the world as it is at the moment.
Today, I’m writing to you about how important it is to speak up and raise our voices as soon as we notice any form of injustice or oppression of any kind, we should speak up and call attention whenever confronted by rapists, bullies, oppressors, racists, perverts and stalkers.
One point I want to state out to my readers today is that no matter the situation, your feelings are valid, very much VALID. When you notice an unusual act from a family member, neighbor, friend, partner, colleague, boss, religious leader, mentor or anyone at all, kindly speak up. It’s understandable that you might not want to speak up because:
- You feel scared.
- You are worried that you might get into a fight.
- You are concerned that you might be overthinking or overreacting.
- You might make enemies.
- People might not take you seriously.
- You might not get justice, the whole situation could be turned on you,
- You might get intimidated etc.
I want you to know that as weighty as the above statements are, they should not be enough to silence you, you are brave enough to speak up when someone makes you feel uncomfortable. Have it in mind that speaking up and taking a stand is still the best option irrespective of who the person is.
By speaking up, you’ll be saving yourself or someone else from getting abused, clearing the air, ensuring your safety, exposing perverts, stalkers and potential rapists to feel the full weight of the law. Most importantly, you would be giving someone else the courage to speak up, paying it forward until the world is a better place.
In the end, prevention is always better than cure.
Stay safe, Be observant, Be careful and always trust your instincts. ❤️️❤️️❤️️
